Hulu Plus, the subscription service that has gained popularity by delivering TV shows on more devices in HD, has recently received a facelift to its user interface. What’s more, they are now flaunting the new look by making the Hulu Plus app, which can be installed free of cost through Google Play, compatibly available on seven more Android tablets. Siri has proven to be very popular with iPhone 4S users – more than half of those polled in a recent survey claim to be very satisfied with Apple’s voice command system. In addition, rumours have already begun to spread about the possibility of Apple launching a TV set with a Siri voice interface. Only a small amount of users said that they were actually dissatisfied with the Siri system, however only 37% would like to see a similar interface made available for television sets. A global survey of 2,000 tablet users by application performance management company Compuware has revealed that as many as 40% of websites crash or present glitches when accessed by these devices. These findings are significant because the study also showed that tablet owners have high expectations when it comes to their web experiences, and a third are less likely to make purchases online from companies that don’t meet those expectations. Google have tidily integrated and rebranded their Google Music, Google Books, Google Movie and Android Market applications into one new product called Google Play. Product purchases made via the new app will be entirely hosted on a cloud service, meaning that Google will store each user’s data on their own servers at no additional charge, which will conveniently save space on people’s devices. Google has submitted a patent request for an exciting piece of software that will allow users to interact with their new TV platform using vocal commands. The cutting-edge voice activated user interface will relay a command to the television or set-top box which will then display the requested information.
