Senior Design Researcher (Freelance)

We are looking for highly experienced Design Researchers to join Spotless on a Freelance basis, supporting client work for some big brands. This role will have a strong focus on leading research and insight work, so a background in this is important.

You will have a minimum of 4 years experience working in Design Research across the development lifecycle, with the confidence to report back to stakeholders at all levels of seniority. You will be comfortable working as part of a small team, as well as running things on your own.

Your responsibilities:

Your main responsibility will be to work closely with the client to deliver the clients objectives:

  • Lead or attend project kick off calls
  • Write recruitment screeners
  • Create discussion guides and other research materials (including surveys)
  • Comfortable conducting research online (e.g. via MS Teams or Zoom), as well as in-person
  • Moderate one-to-one and also group research sessions
  • Planning and facilitating workshops
  • Conduct contextual research/ethnography
  • You will bring research insights to life, making it easier for clients to connect the dots with clear communication and actionable recommendations
  • Leading on client debriefs to playback insights and findingsĀ 

Your skills and experience:

  • 4 years+ agency experience, supporting the design of digital services, and applying strategic thinking to the process
  • Strong stakeholder management skills
  • Experience of various research methodologies including contextual interviews, stakeholder interviews, co-creation, and user feedback sessions (remote and lab-based)
  • Solid background with Bachelorā€™s degree in, for example, Psychology, Product design, Human Computer Interaction, Service design, or equivalent industry experience
  • Have relevant knowledge of wireframes and prototypes
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and good interpersonal skills
  • Good commercial understanding
  • Able to deliver high quality projects
  • Highly motivated and self-managing, with good time management skills and the ability to deliver according to budget and deadlines

Spotless is a hybrid work environment, meaning we allow individuals to work both in-office and at home depending on what suits them and the nature of the project. This work might require some in office collaboration but we are also open to 100% remote.
