Spotless is excited to announce that our workshop has been accepted to SXSW Interactive 2016 in Austin, TX!
Our session, Service Safari: Observation for Design Insight is an interactive, hands-on workshop where participants will learn and apply ethnographic techniques used to understand people’s behaviour in order to find opportunities to solve their problems and fulfil unmet needs.
Ethnographic and observational techniques are used to observe and/or interact with a study’s participants in their real-life environment. Ethnography was popularised by anthropology, but is used across a wide range of social sciences.
“The aim of an ethnographic study within a user-centred design project is to get ‘under the skin’ of a design problem (and all its associated issues). By doing so, a designer will be able to truly understand the problem, empathise with the people involved and therefore design a far better solution.” – Emeline Therias
Participants will learn the observation methods and when to use them; apply the methods using the latest wearable tech; turn observations into actionable insight to help guide strategy and design; and learn how to map findings in order to communicate effectively with their team and stakeholders.
The session is primarily for individuals active or interested in the design, research and strategy for products, experiences, services and businesses; however anyone working in a business hoping to become more customer-centric can value from the session.
