We recently welcomed a small group of second-year product design students from the Glasgow School of Art to view our studios and hear about what it’s like to work at Spotless.

After a brief warm-up activity and introductions, our Service Designer (and GSA alum!) Hannah Steele led the conversation about our work and methods over breakfast. We highlighted a few of our key case studies and explained how we live up to our mission – to empower people to deliver innovation that matters – by working with a flexible, iterative design process driven by rigorous research.

The product design course at GSA recently transferred from the school of design to the school of innovation, so it was a perfect time for these second-year students to embark on their London design tour and determine how they’d like to personally and collectively situate themselves in the world of design and innovation. We were honoured to be included in their list of design leaders like Future Cities Catapult, Government Digital Services, IDEO and Google.

The students had lots of questions about how we ended up working for Spotless, so Signe, Hannah and I were able to share our diverse backgrounds and explain our journeys from the worlds of advertising, journalism and product design to the more holistic and overarching practice of service design.


Students said they were able to really get a feel for who we were as a company, and we were so grateful to get to know the next generation of designers.
