Creative Virtual Ltd, a company which designs virtual assistant natural language web applications, has been shortlisted for the Econsultancy Innovation Awards 2012 in the category of ‘Innovation in Customer & User Experience’. This recognition is based on their seamless integration of O2 UK’s virtual agent Ask Lucy with their Live Chat functionality. It’s not uncommon for us to get snippets of information about Apple’s submitted patents, and the latest is that their lawyers have revealed a few very interesting patent details outlining the company’s plans to introduce gesture controls to its range of portable devices with motion sensor technology. The patent mentions their gestures patent “made a distance above a touch sensitive display”, reminiscent of gaming controllers such as the Nintendo Wii’s interface and more recently Microsoft’s controller free motion gaming peripheral which detects and transfers  commands into navigational movements and “clicks”. Yahoo’s new CEO, Scott Thompson, has discussed how the company will move forward by focussing on enhanced content, customer experience and technology. Mr Thompson said “Yahoo’s future depends on its ability to create great products” and that “excellent technology and content are both needed at Yahoo, not just one or the other.” To this end, he explained that in addition to the company’s previously stated goal of being the premier digital media resource, innovation needs to be a core value. Many industry experts and users feel that if Google was as careful about the apps it sells as Amazon, the tremendous surge of Android targeted malware would be taken in hand.
